Main Round Results
K-12 Main Round placement results now available via the Parent Portal!
Families may need to take next steps to secure seats for next year:
- If your student was matched to a new school during Main Round, the deadline to complete registration (en Español) is April 30. If a student does not complete registration by the deadline, they may lose their seat. Once a student is dropped for the 2025-2026, the seat cannot be reclaimed. If your student no longer has a school assignment for next year, you should participate in Open Enrollment, starting on May 14, 2025. If you have other questions about assignment or placement, submit a help desk ticket.
- Students who were assigned to continue at their current school should follow up with their school to determine what information or documents are needed to confirm their place for next year. Schools are required to verify residency annually, and many schools do this as a part of spring re-registration.
- Students who were not assigned to a school for next year should participate in Open Enrollment. For more information, visit the Open Enrollment page.
Next Steps
Scroll down to see more details for each placement type below. See a full list of school registration directions here (en Español).
Students may also have been placed on a waitlist. Only ten NOLA-PS schools have a waitlist. Students who met the eligibility criteria for one or more of those schools may have been placed on the waitlist if there were more applicants than available seats. You will be able to view Waitlist details in the Parent Portal by April 10, 2025.
Let us know how we can help! If you have questions about your student's placement, next steps, or accessing information, please reach out to the NOLA-PS enrollment team. Connect with us by submitting a Help Desk ticket, calling 504-910-8500, or visiting one of our Family Resource Centers.
Matched Students
School Assignment: Students who received a school assignment for next year may have been matched to a new school or assigned to continue at their current NOLA-PS school. Students are assigned to continue at their current school if there are not enough available seats at the schools that the student ranked higher than their current school, and their current school offers the next available grade.
If your family is unhappy with your student's Main Round placement school, you can participate in Open Enrollment this summer. There is no Round 2. Open Enrollment is the next opportunity for families to choose a school for next year. During Open Enrollment, students can choose from schools with available seats at their grade level. More information about Open Enrollment will be available on the
Open Enrollment page.
Unmatched Students
Reason for No Match: A student will not receive a match if all of the schools on the student's application had more applicants than available seats. Students who did not complete an application during Main Round will not receive a match. If you did not receive a match in the Main Round and your student cannot continue at their current school for next year, you will need to participate in Open Enrollment to receive a placement for the 2025-2026 school year. More information about Open Enrollment will be available on the
Open Enrollment page.
Waitlist Information: It's possible for a student to not recieve a school assignment for next year and to be on a waitlist. Eligible Main Round appplicants to
Eligibility Criteria Schools who did not receive a seat were added to the waitlist. See the waitlist section for more information. You will be able to view Waitlist details in the Parent Portal by April 10, 2025.
Waitlisted Students
There are 10 schools with eligibility criteria: 4 schools with academic eligibility criteria, 5 schools with foreign language eligibility criteria, and 1 school with open house eligibility criteria. After the Main Round match, applicants who met the eligibility criteria for a school but didn't receive initial placement—nor were they matched to a higher-ranked school—will be placed on a waitlist.
You will be able to view Waitlist details in the Parent Portal by April 10, 2025. Not all waitlisted students will receive a waitlist offer. Beginning May 14, if your student receives a waitlist offer, you will receive an email and a text message (if you have opted into texting, to sign up for text alerts, text START to 1-844-596-4144). You can log into the Parent Portal to accept or decline your offer. Families must respond to waitlist offers by the expiration date and time in your offer or you will lose the placement opportunity. All waitlists end on September 1, 2025.
A student can be on a waitlist whether they have a school placement for the upcoming school year or not. You can complete registration at your Main Round placement school or participate in Open Enrollment and it will not change or affect your student's position on the waitlist. We recommend securing a placement and enrolling in a school with an available seat while you are on the waitlist. If you receive a waitlist offer, you can always accept that offer, which will transfer your student to that new school. Kindergarten through 12th grade is mandatory in Louisiana, so it’s best to go ahead and choose a school with an available seat so your child is ready to start the school year in August.
The only way a student is removed from the waitlist is if the parent/guardian asks for the child to be removed, if a waitlist offer is made and then expires, or if the offer is declined. If you would like to remove your student from the waitlist, please log in to the Parent Portal and submit a ticket to the help desk before September 1, 2025.
Choosing a Different School
Open Enrollment: If your student would like to choose a different school for next year, they can participate in Open Enrollment starting May 14, 2025. More information will be available on the
Open Enrollment page.
Schools with Eligibility Criteria: If your student is interested in enrolling at a school with eligibility criteria, please follow up with the school to express your family's interest, schedule testing, and/or complete next steps to determine eligibility. Learn more on the
Open Enrollment page. See school-specific information about completing eligibility steps.
